Commencing on June 1st, 2023, our project spans four years, concluding on May 31st, 2027. Our implementation plan is structured into three distinct phases, each culminating in a comprehensive report.
1.
Ecosystems Analysis and Strategic Directions
Phase one is linked to the assessment and analysis of the current status, along with the legal and policy landscape in all participating widening countries, including their respective Research and Innovation Smart Specialization Strategies (RIS3).
The activities planned are expected to demonstrate the pressing need for targeted actions aimed at improving our healthcare system, adopting and improving policies, and catalyzing regional and cross-border innovation endeavors.
These actions will serve as the cornerstone for the development of a cross-border joint Research and Innovation (R&I) strategy. This strategy will align harmoniously with the regional smart specialization strategies of the participating widening countries and with the European policy priority of Smart Health.
2.
Digital Transition in the Healthcare Sector
In the second phase, our mission is to drive the digital transition in the healthcare sector. We are dedicated to enhancing knowledge, know-how, and optimizing data utilization. This journey is complemented by the strategic planning of a Regional Smart Health Data Space (RSHDS).
We will demonstrate the true potential of the RSHDS. This demonstration will take place during the validation of pilot use cases, with a sharp focus on addressing the most prevalent diseases of our time (cancer, brain tumors, Alzheimer, and dementia). These conditions demand high levels of innovation to be effectively tackled.
3.
Cross-border Joint R&I Strategy and Action Plans
As we progress into the third phase, we turn our attention to the vital coordinating and supporting measures outlined. This phase marks the culmination of our efforts, where we take the final steps towards crafting a cross-border joint Research and Innovation (R&I) strategy. Additionally, we will formulate the action and investment plans essential for its successful implementation.
Our focus extends beyond our immediate participating innovation ecosystems. We’re dedicated to creating spillover capabilities that reach not only within these ecosystems but also extend to a broader European scale.
… all, meant to transform the smart health landscape in South-East Europe and not only.
