Work Packages

An Iterative Methodology

At VELES, we are committed to achieving our objectives through a dynamic and collaborative approach. This is why we have adopted an Agile iterative methodology that fosters stakeholder involvement, feedback loops, and continuous improvements.

Our journey spans 48 months, divided into seven distinct Work Packages (WPs) designed to propel our mission forward. Each WP has a lead and contributors from the consortium partners, and is shortly described below.

WORK PACKAGE 1
Project Management and Coordination
WP1 is focused on effective project management. We establish internal procedures, implement IT tools, oversee administrative and financial aspects, and ensure top-notch quality and risk management practices.
Lead: GATEarrow
WORK PACKAGE 2
Smart Health Regional ecosystem enablement and transformational framework of change
WP2 sets the ground of the project. The first step towards such a project is understanding the current landscape of the four ecosystems - Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, and Cyprus.

We meticulously analyze their state of play in order to be able to elaborate a comprehensive guideline for transitioning toward the Smart Health Regional ecosystem. Additionally, we develop a transformational framework for Smart Health data-driven innovations and validate these concepts through a series of 3Ds framework exercises.
WORK PACKAGE 3
Regional Smart Health Data Space boosting the R&I potential in South East Europe
Building upon the insights gained from WP2, WP3 is dedicated to establishing the necessary ecosystem, infrastructure, legal, ethical, and business conditions for creating the cross-border Regional Smart Health Data Space (RSHDS). Our ultimate goal is to integrate it within the EU Health Data Space.
Lead: GATEarrow
WORK PACKAGE 4
Multi-ecosystem demonstration and validation of а R&I pilot use cases based on the 3Ds Framework
WP4 is where we put our concepts into action. We validate the Data Space methodological framework developed in WP3 by conceptualizing, designing, planning, and conducting feasibility assessments for four groundbreaking pilots. These pilots tackle highly challenging topics, including cancer treatment (Greece), personalized/precision medicine for Alzheimer's (Bulgaria), cerebral tumors (Romania), and dementia (Cyprus).
WORK PACKAGE 5
Innovation potential uptake activities
WP5 encompasses a range of supportive measures. We prioritize targeted education and the development of entrepreneurial skills, foster cross-country research and industry PhD programs, facilitate know-how transfer through staff exchanges, and facilitate access to funding for researchers, businesses, and authorities. We actively seek synergies with leading EU initiatives to amplify our impact.
Lead: CYENSarrow
WORK PACKAGE 6
Sustainability and exploitation
WP6 is dedicated to ensuring the effective exploitation of VELES outcomes and the long-term self-sustainability of the four place-based innovation ecosystems. Self-sustainability is of utmost importance, and this package plays a pivotal role in achieving that.
Lead: JOISTarrow
WORK PACKAGE 7
Dissemination, impact, and outreach activities
WP7 is all about keeping our stakeholders informed and engaged. We actively undertake communication and dissemination activities to share our progress, findings, and insights with the wider community.
